Hey are you into psychedelic rock and electronic house music. Ever think how it would sound like together ? Then you have stumbled upon a goldmine. Lancer Music presents a unique act called Learning. Learning is a two man band that consist of no vocals just an DJ and an outstanding guitar player. Together they combine psychedleic guitar solos and upbeat experimental techno and fuse them together. Its can be described as a modern day Pink Floyd. Truly an amazing act that raise the bar for local Windsor music. Be sure to check out Learning the next time they are playing in Windsor.

Having been the first band that Lancer Music listened to, The Glow set the bar high for local musicians. After being tipped off about their frequent jam sessions at The Manchester by bassist/guitarist Devon Pastorius, Lancer Music decided to swing in and boy were we blown away. The band not only sounds great, but they have a stage presence that’s all their own and makes them a blast to watch. Make sure to keep your eyes and ears open for these guys (and girl!)

Here at Lancer Music we understand that juggling between school, work and extra curricular activities makes it difficult to see all the local music Windsor has to offer. That’s why we are giving you another way to access all the great local music: comforably from inside your own home. Music lovers should check out the University of Windsor’s campus radio station called CJAM 99.1. On CJAM you will find great local music and musicians that can match any mainstream commercial music. I highly recommend listening to CJAM in order to discover great local acts, upcoming local shows and away to keep up with the local music movement without ever having to miss a beat.

Hi again, during our time at Lancer Music we have stumbled upon some great CD’s that have came our way from local musicians. And now we would like to share them with you in what we think is our Top 3 Albums of the semester.

  1. Our number one album goes to the album called City of Roses. City of Roses was a  complication album that features Windsors most elite musicians. It is like having Windsor’s diverse music scene all on one CD ready to go with a push of a button. This album was put together to support The Hospice Of Windsor and Essex Community and is a true reflection on the musical talent Windsor has to offer.
  2. Our second pick goes to the EP by The Golden Eagles. Now this is an album that everyone needs to get their hands on. The Golden Eagles sound is unique and catchy that will make you push the repeat button over and over again. The Golden Eagles sound has been described as if ” Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters and Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age got together and wrote an album with Rick Neilsen of Cheap Trick” (Jamie Greer). This album is Windsors talent at its best nothing less then perfection.
  3. Our third pick is a unique album by a up and coming local band. The album is called My World and is by the one and only MicLordz & Sauce Funky and has such an original sound. This album rocks hard and makes you want to see it live. This album is a perfect storm of Rock and Hip Hop diffused into one. It makes you want to rap along as well as bash your head to the heavy rock sound. The only thing that comes close to this band is Rage Against the Machine and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. This is an album you need to get ASAP if your a fan of Rock or Hip Hop.

Todays post features the outstanding band The Unquiet Dead. When I saw The Unquiet Dead for the first time it blew my mind. It was not a typical band that you see everyday. In fact it is hard to sum up in words how talented and unique this band is. In total there are 10 musicians in The Unquiet Dead something quite similar the world famous band Broken Social Scene. And even with such a large band The Unquiet Dead sets the bar every time they hit the stage. Some of the instruments that make this unique sound come alive are the guitar, accordion, banjo, lap steel, mandolin, percussions and multiple vocals. The way they perform, how they write and combine a variety of different musical styles is nothing less then amazing. The Unquiet Dead plays music from blues, folk, gospel, rock and everything in between. One could not possibly put them in a single genre. When I asked what type of music The Unquiet Dead played one member of the audience simply said ” I cant explain it you just have to wait and see”. The Unquite Dead is a band you should run out and see right away, it will change your hole perspective on music. If you want to research upcoming shows and music from the Unquite Dead check out their Facebook at

Rob is no stranger to the dj scene having done it for several years now, playing at such venues as The Boom Boom Room and Revival, but feels he wants to take his music in a different direction. If your familiar with Rob’s work, you’ll know he maintains a clear house music vibe throughout his mixes; however, Rob tells us he’s been working on a new alternative/underground sound for his future performances. While he is still in the works now, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for this Windsor musician!image
